Mission Statement |
The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County empowers
and advocates for those affected by domestic
violence, sexual assault and other violent
crimes. We inspire and educate citizens to
create safer communities and break the cycle of
violence. |
|
Brief Overview of Services/Programs |
The Crisis Shelter strives to be a catalyst for
meaningful social transformation through
coordinated efforts that empower residents,
engage bystanders, teach healthy behaviors and
provide mentors and positive role models. Our
objective is to break the cycle of violence so
that children will not continue the destructive
behaviors exhibited by parents and educate
children, families and the community regarding
vulnerability to predators and how to recognize
at-risk children and intervene.
In order to address emerging needs, the Crisis
Shelter keeps its finger on the pulse of the
community and is evolving services and focusing
programming development on strategic
collaboration in the community and education
activities for prevention and intervention. As
the only domestic violence and sexual assault
provider in Lawrence County, we foster a
continuum of care network which is committed to
developing and providing comprehensive victim
services, cross-training of strategic partners,
implementation of unique targeted awareness and
prevention programs and a coordinated community
response to violence and abuse. A tradition of
respect and compassion reinforces the Crisis
Shelter's ongoing partnerships and collaboration
with over 30 county agencies, civic groups,
businesses and governmental bodies. The Crisis
Shelter is a leader and innovator in victim
services within the state by conceptualizing and
implementing several cutting-edge,
first-of-its-kind prevention programs and
building consensus around the concept of
regional programming efforts. |
