Center’s intervention program, the
multidisciplinary team of child abuse
professionals, reviews, coordinates and tracks
over 200 cases of child abuse annually. Cases
include all sexual abuse, severe physical abuse
and severe neglect. Due to the CAC’s
collaborative efforts, 90 percent of the child
abuse cases recommended for prosecution are
prosecuted successfully. To address the issue
of child abuse prevention, the CAC has developed
two prevention programs designed to start as
early as possible with children:
Nurse-Family Partnership is a blueprint violence
prevention program and is a nurse home
visitation programs designed to work with first-
mothers to provide a continuum of services to
promote healthy pregnancies, healthy development
of children, and healthy home environments. The
Nurse-Family Partnership serves 100 first-time
mothers annually.
Family Connections is a family center funded
program for families in Lawrence County. It
offers the Parents As Teachers program, a home
visitation program for families with children
0-5 years of age, serves as an information and
referral source for families and designs
programs to meet the needs of families living in
Lawrence County. |
