Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lawrence County
(BBBS) is a volunteer program that matches
adult mentors with youth between the ages of 6
and 15 who reside in single parent households.
The purpose of the program is to provide
children in need of a supportive relationship
with both a mentor and a friend. Mentors must be
at least 15 years of age and must pass a
screening process and be able to commit to a
minimum of one meeting a week for one year.
Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) is an
intensive family and community-based therapeutic
program that focuses on issues surrounding
adolescents who are at risk of out-of-home
placement. Therapeutic services typically range
between 3-5 months on a weekly and as-needed
basis. Appropriate youth for this program are
chronic delinquent or dependent youth, male or
female, ages 12-17. Referrals are made through
Lawrence Cou9nty Children and Youth Services and
Lawrence County Juvenile Probation.
Home-Based Parent Training provides
education and counseling to parents whose
children are at risk for out-of-home placement.
The length of the service is determined by the
needs of the participant. Referrals are made
through Lawrence County Children and Youth
Services.

Homemaker Services provides education and
support to families whose poor home maintenance
and housekeeping skills have created health and
safety risks for themselves and their children.
The length of this service is determined by the
needs of the participant. Referrals are made
through Lawrence County Children and Youth
Services.
Parent and Youth Intervention Service is
an intensive, in-home program designed for
adolescents who are at risk of out-of-home
placement. The length of this service is
determined at the time of the referral.
Referrals are made through Lawrence Cou9nty
Children and Youth Services.
Juvenile Justice Services: The Community
Service Program works with youth referred by
Juvenile probation who have been assigned to
community service by the court system. The
Juvenile Diversion Program is a
psycho-educational group for low level juvenile
offenders that provides social skill development
and reinforces pro-social activities.
